Magnesium chloride is an inorganic ionic compound with the chemical formula MgCl₂ (anhydrous) / MgCl₂·6H₂O (hexahydrate), appearing as white crystalline powder, flake, granule or colorless transparent liquid, with slight hygroscopy and easy solubility in water and ethanol (dissolution is slightly endothermic).
